We always knew we wanted to bring the scent of the garden indoors. What we did not know, at the start, was how to do it properly.

So we did what we have done with everything in sow-sé. We looked close to home, and we found someone who knew far more than we did.

Peigín created Ground Wellbeing, here in Cork. Her products are used in therapeutic massage in some of the most prestigious hotels in the world. When we met her, it was clear straight away. Here was someone who cared about the same things we do and allowing it to take the time it takes.

What followed was a real learning experience. Peigín taught us, patiently, so that we were confident and ready to explore scent ourselves and create our range. We sat with ingredients, we tried things, we changed our minds. Our house smelled wonderful the whole time.

It also sent us back through our own memories. Once you start paying attention to scent, you notice how much of it you have been carrying, the smells tied to people and places and certain times of year. We found ourselves talking about the ones that had stayed with us, and trying to hold a little of that feeling in what we made.

It grew into a range, each one handmade in Cork, in small batches, by people we know. The room spray and the hand balm, and Hit The Hay for the end of the day.

There is something in making things this way. Two businesses, a few miles apart, sharing what they are good at and trusting each other to get it right.

Our tagline is where knowledge grows, and this is part of what we mean by it. We did not arrive knowing how to do this. We learned it, from someone generous enough to teach us. That is what we are proudest of, and what we want to keep doing.
